This article has been inspired by a true story, which I was a part of last Summer, I think it was around the end of July when my brother and his girlfriend booked a last minute holiday to one of the Greek Islands (it was near the one that was written about in the book 'The Island' where there was a leper colony).
Anyway before they left my brother actually asked me if I wanted anything bringing back as a small gift, so I said yes I would, actually do you know what I really need and probably won't buy myself, a key ring, he chuckled for a bit and left with the words 'I think I can manage that.' This to me sounded like a man who knew his objectives and was confident that he would be able to meet them, so I carried on my life for the next week using the key ring that I had acquired during my first week at University some six years previous.
From now on in the story the title of this article will begin to make more sense, because they returned from their holiday with presents for everyone and I was expecting probably the most ridiculous key ring that he could find, but instead I was presented with a little box with a bottle of aftershave inside. I was disappointed especially when he remarked, 'it only cost £2.99' but I appeared grateful until on closer inspection I found that the brand on the box was actually tammy hilfiger (a fact that had not gone unnoticed by my brother).
Anyway I did use the fragrance and it smelt like what can only be described as a generic scent, which was not unpleasant but has since deteriorated both in smell and in colour and now the application of it is slightly pointless unless you enjoy that slight sting and don't want anyone to know about it.
This episode taught me a number of things that I will do differently in the future, the first of which is, if I actually want a key ring as a souvenir, do not request one. The second is start buying rubbish presents for my brother and possibly his girlfriend, but most importantly always ensure that when I wish to smell nice I purchase only brand name perfume
